What is the Landfill Security Program®?

The Program provides landfill owners with closure and post-closure cost protection, satisfies financial responsibility and bonding requirements, and insurance protection against third-party claims. Both financial and insurance vehicles are used to mitigate or eliminate risks associated with landfill construction, capping, discovery of unknown contamination, lawsuits, and natural resource damage. The Program provides financial stability and protection for closure and post-closure costs for up to 30 years after the date of closure, and may provide significant tax advantages.

Who is EMCON/OWT, Inc.?

They are a subsidiary of Shaw Group Inc.'s Environmental and Infrastructure Division, specializing in designing and permitting landfills and transfer stations. EMCON/OWT has worked on more than 40 redevelopment projects involving landfills to office buildings, retail complexes and a variety of recreational end uses. The company's services include landfill engineering and design through post-closure operation and maintenance, leachate control and evaporator systems, landfill gas to energy generation, environmental controls that protects landfill owners from uncontrolled pollution releases, and providing certainty on future closure and post-closure costs.
