Greg Schilz is a partner in the west coast office of Breitstone & Co. Ltd. Prior to joining the firm in 2002, he had been responsible for the Environmental Practice in the West Region for Marsh, Inc, and was the Global Broking Team Leader for the Environmental Specialty Group since 1993.

He has worked in a number of specialty areas over the past 15 years, including environmental, healthcare, directors and officers, hospital malpractice, architects and engineers errors and omissions, and lawyer's professional liability coverages.

Mr Schilz has expertise in designing and building environmental insurance programs, analyzing environmental loss exposures, evaluating existing insurance programs to determine coverage adequacy, and monitoring market conditions to provide new coverage enhancements.

Mr. Schilz has been instrumental in structuring innovative solutions in property transactions and litigation involving environmental issues by utilizing environmental insurance. For example, he worked on the Base Reuse Authorization and Closure (BRAC) facilities in The Port of Oakland, Presidio, and Treasure Island. He also worked on environmental insurance programs for Superfund sites such as Iron Mountain and Fox River. Environmental insurance was also used to facilitate mergers and acquisitions, including recent efforts with a high technology instrument company and an aerospace/aircraft parts company, both of which included insurance terms up to 30 years. Mr. Schilz is also a pioneer in utilizing the blended finite insurance structure for environmental applications, where costs are pre-funded with significant advantages to the insured.

Mr. Schilz is actively involved and regularly speaks at events for professional organizations, including real estate brokers and developers, environmental consultants, and members of Bar Associations. Mr. Schilz received a B.S. in Business Administration in 1984 from San Francisco State University.
