Keith Jurss is a partner in the Midwest Office of Breitstone & Co. Ltd. Prior to joining the firm he was responsible for managing the Environmental Practice of Willis, Inc. in the Midwest Region. Breitstone & Co. Ltd. works with buyers and sellers of contaminated properties, with developers that construct capital improvements on these properties and with contractors performing remediation services, to provide insurance coverage that addresses environmental exposures. The firm also assists lenders making financing available for the purchase, cleanup and development of contaminated sites and with lawyers representing the various parties to these transactions. Breitstone typically develops insurance and risk management solutions for the complicated environmental problems associated with real estate and development transactions. Breitstone & Co. Ltd. has offices in New York, Nashville, San Francisco and Chicago.

Mr. Jurss has over 18 years of insurance industry experience in both underwriting and marketing of specialty lines of coverage. He has worked in the environmental, professional liability, transportation, general and products liability areas. He applies his knowledge and experience to environmental issues by understanding the risks faced by clients and designing the appropriate risk management and insurance programs to address those needs. In an evolving and rapidly changing insurance market, his established relationships with underwriters assures clients access to the broadest coverage at a competitive price.

Mr. Jurss has been instrumental in designing custom environmental insurance programs to transfer environmental risk for complex industrial facilities in industries such as, chemical, agricultural, energy/utility, municipalities, waste treatment and disposal, hazardous materials transportation, and civil construction. He has also utilized environmental insurance to facilitate mergers and acquisitions in commercial and industrial applications. Mr. Jurss specializes in structuring blended finite and risk transfer insurance programs for environmental applications. These programs allow pre-funding of remediation costs and the transfer environmental liability risks to an insurer. For example he designed environmental insurance programs to facilitate a client's acquisition of 169 retail service stations from the bankruptcy court, to transfer environmental liability associated with landfill clean-up, closure and post-closure care to a third party, and to facilitate compliance with state financial responsibility requirements for hazardous waste treatment and disposal facilities.

Mr. Jurss has also participated in numerous presentations and speaking assignments for clients and professional organizations discussing environmental insurance and its application to various transactions as well as the current state of the environmental insurance marketplace. Mr. Jurss received a BA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
