Howard M. Tollin is the Managing Director of the Legal Practice Division of Breitstone & Co. Ltd.  He works with buyers and sellers of properties that are known or suspected to be developers employed to construct capital improvements on these properties, contractors providing remediation services and lenders making financing available.  Mr. Tollin works as a licensed property and casualty broker and environmental consultant, often assisting lawyers and their clients with the placement of environmental insurance.  Over the past two years, he has facilitated the resolution of environmental issues involved with many property transactions in which the sale had died or remained on hold.

Mr. Tollin has volunteered as a speaker at numerous law firms, educating other lawyers on how to mitigate environmental risks in corporate and property transactions.  He has also volunteered as a speaker at the Suffolk County Bar Association, Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA) and Long Island Association (LIA), and regularly participates in conferences outside New York.  He has further participated in seminars at commercial real estate firms and other insurance agencies.

Mr. Tollin was formerly a Partner in the Insurance Practice Group at Rivkin Radler, LLP, where he supervised complex insurance coverage litigations and environmental claims.  For more than 12 years, Mr. Tollin evaluated and litigated hundreds of environmental clean-up, products liability and toxic tort claims under insurance policies involving billions of dollars.

Mr. Tollin has authored numerous articles on various insurance topics and environmental issues.  He is admitted to practice in the States of New York and Connecticut, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Southern Districts of New York, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.  He holds a B.S. Degree with Honors in Economics from Binghamton University, and a J.D. Degree from Hofstra University School of Law.  Mr. Tollin was Co-Chair of the Agent/Broker Subcommittee, Insurance Coverage Committee of the American Bar Association, and Chair of the Products Liability Subcommittee of the American Bar Association.  He is also a member of the New York and Nassau County Bar Associations, and LIA and HIA Environmental committees.  He is on the Environmental Insurance Committee of the Environmental Section of the New York Bar Association.
